Chapter 2

About half an hour into their trip, Sam began feeling bored. She started to play some music in order to get her mind off the rolling waves and seagulls. Her choice: 'N Sync. She had no idea about the fact that Vicky knew Chris since she was little. Blaring the song "Tearin' Up My Heart," her thoughts drifted to fantasies about meeting the guys.

"Sam!" Vicky yelled, snapping her out of her daydreams. "Turn that crap off!"

"It's not crap!" Sam protested. She turned it up a little higher just to annoy her.

"Come on, please? I'd rather listen to Green Day. Like I said earlier this morning, I hate boy bands. Their music is too poppy," Vicky disagreed. The seas began to get rougher as they reached the outskirts of the mapped area. For some reason, there was something not right with their location. They were off by about 20 miles, but Vicky wasn't going to tell Sam. She was afraid of her becoming hysterical.

The music was now beginning to bother Vicky. She couldn't take a pop boy band. Their songs had too much beat and not enough hard core. "Could you please turn this shit off? It's getting on my nerves!" she yelled.

"No," Sam protested again. Instead, she turned it to "I Drive Myself Crazy," a slow, mellow song that she loved.

"Oh, God, I hate these stupid love songs. They make me wanna puke," Vicky complained. The only reason she was saying that was to get Chad off her mind.  Every time she heard something slow and dreamy, it made her think of their song, “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams.

"Well, too bad. You're gonna have to listen to it no matter what you say. I have to listen to your crap. It's only fair."

"Fine, but I get to play Korn next."

"Is little Justin getting bored?" JC asked as he passed him on deck.

Justin was slumped on a chair sipping a milk shake. "No, I just hate being out here without someone. Besides the fact, I think I'm getting seasick," he lied.

"Then why are you drinking a milk shake? It's only going to make you feel worse," JC contradicted as he walked off. The party was just beginning, and he wanted to find himself a girl to enjoy the night with. The gray moon provided the perfect backdrop for the night.

Justin had other plans, though. He really didn't want to party that night. The only thing he wanted to do was go to his room and think. For some reason, a strange dream had been haunting him for days. It started off with a night like this, then it turned into a hellish nightmare with him and his buddies ending up on an island, stranded for days.

A light drizzle could now be felt against his skin. As he looked out into the ocean, he began to think of Brittany . She was now miles away, yet he couldn't take the fact the he still wanted to be with her. She was pretty, yet she had the controlling attitude he hated. But every time they kissed, Justin could feel this wonderful passion on his lips he couldn't resist.

Justin walked into his room and changed into his pajamas. The ocean's cradling was getting to him. He needed some sleep. This was the perfect time to get his mind off of things. As he drifted into a deep sleep, something began to happen on the boat. JC ran into his room and pulled him off the bed.

"What the hell are you doing?" Justin yelled.

"Come on. It's getting really bad out there. The captain wants us to get off the boat before the storm hits. He said it's going to be really bad when it does," JC explained. He pulled Justin out the door and into the pouring rain. As the boat rocked back and forth, he could see all the other people rushing to the lifeboats.

"Where are we supposed to go with the lifeboats?" Justin questioned.

"There's supposed to be an island close by. That's where we're going."

'That's one really stupid idea,' Justin thought to himself. He didn't want to tell JC, so he just followed him to a boat. The next thing he knew, a heavy gust of wind blew him off his feet and into the water. After that, everything was blank.

"Vicky!" Sam yelled through the stormy night. "Where are you?"

"I'm right here," Vicky yelled back from the starboard side of the boat.

"What are we going to do? We're stuck here!"

"Stay calm. It'll probably be over soon. It's just a little storm. Let's get below deck and wait it out." Just as Vicky began to make her way to the stairs, an even stronger gust of wind blew the boat to its side, knocking her and Sam into the water. It was the last time they saw each other before the storm was over.
