Chapter 13
Justin slept on the couch in the waiting room of the hospital. He was
still waiting for
“Hi, sweetie. Did you miss me?” she asked in a lusty voice.
“More than you could imagine,” Justin tried to respond truthfully, but knew behind it was a lie.
“Aw, I missed you too,”
“Thank you,” he acknowledged, taking it.
“That’s enough,” he nearly yelled.
“What’s wrong? I thought you missed me?” she acted innocent.
“I’m sick of hiding the truth from you,” Justin finally said. “I
have to tell you what happened on that island. Just sit down and listen before
you do anything else.” He told
All
“How dare you cheat on me!” she screamed. “You lying bastard! I hate you! I never want to talk to you, or even see you again! You’re nothing but scum! I don’t even know what possessed me to date you. You’re nothing but a baby under all that muscle. You’re head’s so full air, I don’t think you can distinguish it from your dick! Good bye, Justin Randall Timberlake!” She began to walk out of the waiting room.
“
“Wait for what, Justin? More lies?” she turned and retorted. “I knew when I saw you holding her hand while rushing to the ER that you were in love with her. I thought I was just paranoid, but I guess I was right. You are madly in love with her!”
“I know I am, and I can’t deny it,” he replied. “Look,
“Oh, I’ll do more than slap you!”
“Thank you,” he said as she left the room.
“You’re welcome!” Brittany hollered from down the hall, not turning back to look at him.
Justin was now going to be picked on by the media. He knew Brittany would tell them about everything that happened in their relationship along with what was happing in his and Vicky’s. He might as well have thrown himself off the roof, but thought it would be a stupid idea. He was willing to accept the consequences.
Chad’s tall, blond figure walked by in the hall as Justin felt his jaw to see what damage was done to it. Now was his only chance to talk to Vicky. He picked the rose up from off the ground and walked down the hall to her room.
Vicky lay on her bed watching TV. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Justin approaching her door.
“Justin!” she yelled, throwing her left hand in the air.
“Vicky! I missed you so much!” he replied.
“I missed you too,” Vicky answered.
Justin looked around the room to discover the large assortment of different flowers on the tables. The single rose he held in his hand was nothing compared to this. He hid it behind his back trying to keep it away from Vicky.
“What’s that?” she asked, peering behind him to see the red rose. “Is that for me?”
Justin pulled it out from behind his back with a wry smile and handed it to her. He knew she was going to get angry.
“How sweet. I love it when a guy brings one flower in stead of a million,” Vicky commented.
Justin let out a sigh of relief. “So, what happened with you and Chad? Have you told him about what’s been going on with us?” Justin questioned, itching to tell Vicky what he had just done.
“No, but I’m going to do it when he comes back. He went out to lunch, so I have plenty of time to think about what I’m gonna say.”
“Well, to let you in on some news, I just broke up with Brittany.”
“How did she take it?”
“Not so well, sorry to say. I think she’s going to ruin my career now. It’s not like I care. As long as I have you, I’ll be happy.”
“Aw, Justin, why do you have to be so sweet?” Vicky asked as she took his hand and kissed it.
“Because that’s what you like,” he replied, bending down to kiss her waiting lips.
“I love you, Justin. Always and forever,” she whispered into his ear.
“I’ve been waiting so long to hear you say that,” Justin whispered back as he ran his fingers through her hair. “I love you too.”
Just as they parted, the video for “I Knew I Loved You,” by Savage Garden began to play on MTV. Vicky smiled and looked into Justin’s deep blue eyes. She couldn’t help giving him another kiss. He sat on the edge of the bed and let her tongue caress his mouth.
“God, I love you,” she whispered. Her hand moved up and down his back, holding him close to her body.
“I am complete now that I found you,” Justin softly sang in Vicky’s ear.
Their eyes met again as one more kiss penetrated their lips. “I wish I could hold you for the rest of my life like this,” Vicky said as the song ended.
“Me too,” he replied.
“Justin,” Chris’s voice said as he walked into the room. “Justin, get away from her. We need to talk.”
“Oh, shit,” Justin said under his breath as he stood up. Taking Vicky’s hand, he kissed it once more and left.
“Bye, my love,” she said as he walked out the door.
Once out of hearing range of the room, Justin asked, “Are you here to scold me for loving Vicky? Because if you are, you heard it yourself, she loves me too.”
“No, you idiot. Brittany told the press about your breakup,” Chris retorted.
“So, I knew she would.”
“Yeah, and she told them about you and Vicky.”
“I knew that too.”
“She told them about your one night stand. Why didn’t you tell us about that?” Chris asked with anger.
“Uh… um… Oops,” Justin tried to get out of the jam.
“Oops isn’t going to cut it. You’re an idiot! What the hell were you doing having sex with Vicky on the island when you knew there would be serious consequences when we got back to Florida? And why would you tell Brittany? She is the most likely to tell anyone about it,” Chris yelled into Justin’s face. “You are going to cause us to fall. And we’re gonna fall hard. Thank you very much, Justin. Its back to Disney Land for most of us now.”
“Well, I’m sorry. I really love Vicky, and I had to tell Brittany the truth because I wouldn’t be able to clear my conscience of the guilt. Besides, Vicky is the one I truly am in love with. She’s the one I should have been with before I met that damn bitch,” Justin argued as he walked away.
“Think about what you’re saying. Are you going to let a girl ruin your musical career?” Chris hollered after him.
Justin went to lunch hoping to avoid everyone. He wasn’t in the mood to talk to any of the guys since he knew they’d be angry at him for killing their dreams. He sat by himself in the restaurant across the street. By now, the reporters had gotten their stories and were gone. He could have a peaceful day to think about everything.
Vicky was less fortunate. Her hands were tied. She’s been in surgery for an hour, then was taken back to recovery. Her day was full of enduring pain. The doctors gave her drugs to help it out, but they only made her sleep more.
Chad walked in later on that night with a bundle of roses in his hand. He gently kissed her awake from her slumber. “Hey,” he whispered.
“Hey,” she sleepily replied.
“I wanted to talk to you, but you’ve been out all day,” Chad said as he sat on the corner of the bed.
“What do we have to talk about?” Vicky asked as she raised herself up off the bed.
“Well, I wanted to know a few things about the island.”
“Like what?” Vicky was certain he would be asking about Justin and the guys.
“Was it a good place to stay?”
The question surprised Vicky. She laughed and said, “It was nice, if you like solitude. But there was this really beautiful waterfall out there. I always went out to look out over its tall cliffs. It was so crystal clear. I wish you could have seen it. I know you would have liked it.”
“Well, why don’t we go out there some time soon?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, on our honeymoon.” Chad pulled out a small black velvet box and opened it.
Justin was walking towards Vicky’s room carrying a white rose. He stopped hearing her and Chad talking. Once he peered through the door, he saw that Chad was proposing. There was a sparkle in Vicky’s eyes that he had never seen before. He didn’t know if she was crying, but something told him that this was what Chris had warned him about.
Justin dropped the rose on the ground and walked away from the room. He went straight to the lobby to catch a cab home. He didn’t want to be there when she told him the news. Vicky had already broken his heart; he couldn’t stand around for her to smash it into a thousand pieces.
In Vicky’s room, Chad was already down on his knee and asking, “Vicky, will you marry me?”
With tears in her eyes, Vicky answered, “No, Chad. I can’t marry you.”
“What? Why?” he asked in disbelief.
“Because my heart belongs to someone else,” she cried. “I don’t love you anymore. I stopped loving you a long time ago, but been afraid to tell you.”
“Well, why did you have to tell me now? Why couldn’t you tell me before?” Chad yelled. “You could have been honest.”
“I wanted to be honest, but I couldn’t. I was scared before. I didn’t know how to tell you. I took that trip to think about how to break the news to you.”
“Vicky, you know how pissed I am right now? What the hell were you thinking? I paid over a thousand dollars for this ring, and now you don’t wanna marry me. What happened between us? Why don’t you love me anymore? I’ve done everything to please you. I’ve bought you everything you ever wanted. Tell me what went wrong.”
“You know what went wrong? You went wrong.” Vicky retorted.
“How did I go wrong? What did I do to stop you from loving me?” Chad kept interrogating.
“The passion we had was gone. It got old!” she yelled back.
“Oh, then I see the problem. I got too good for you,” he boasted.
“Oh, please. You were nothing to begin with. Justin is so much better than you are,” Vicky accidentally blurted.
“That Justin guy is the one you’ve been cheating on me with? How could you Vicky?”
“It was easy, I didn’t think about how bad you were. This is it. Chad, get out of my life. I don’t love you, and I never want to talk to you again. Just leave now.” Vicky couldn’t take the progressing fight. She just wanted to have peace and quiet.
“I swear, I’m gonna get both of you for this!” Chad hissed as he stormed out of her room.
Vicky breath out a sigh of relief. The relationship was finally over. She could be with Justin from now on. All she had to do was wait. He said he’d come later on that day. Little did she know about what he had seen.
