Chapter 17
Vicky woke up the next morning with no one beside her. She rolled out of bed feeling dizzy and tired. On the chair next to the desk, she found a pair of baby blue silk pants and shirt that Justin had probably laid out for her. She slipped into them to find that they were a little big, but really comfortable. Vicky walked down the hall smelling the aroma of breakfast in the kitchen.
“Justin,” she called out. “Justin, where are you?” Vicky entered the kitchen and found a note next to a big plate of pancakes, toast, eggs, and a tall glass of milk.
Vicky,
I’ll be home soon, don’t worry. I just stepped out for a few minutes
to do something. Here’s breakfast. Hope you like it.
Your Love,
Justin
Vicky smiled and sat down at the table. She was starving. Not having eaten anything for days was probably the reason she was feeling sick. As she took the first few bites, she began to feel better, but there was still this sick feeling in her stomach. It was as if it wouldn’t let her eat anymore. Vicky left most of what Justin had made for her and went straight back to bed.
About five minutes later, she heard the door open. Someone put their keys on the front table and began to walk towards the room. Justin peered inside and saw Vicky awake under the covers. “Hey, good morning,” he chirped.
“Justin, I don’t feel so go,” Vicky whined as she huddled deeper into the covers.
Justin came closer and sat on the bed. “What’s wrong?”
She could sense the concern in his voice. “I couldn’t eat breakfast because I couldn’t hold down the food,” Vicky answered.
Justin placed his hand on her forehead and replied, “You feel a little warm. I’ll go call the doctor to see if he can come and see you.”
“No!” she almost shouted. Justin gave her a cold stare. “I mean you don’t have to. I’m not that sick.”
“Vicky, what didn’t you tell me yesterday after I found you in the alley?” Justin finally asked what had been on his mind.
“Nothing,” Vicky quickly said as she hid under the blankets. “Nothing at all.” Her muffled voice could be heard cracking as she tried to keep out of sight.
Justin pulled the covers off of her to see the tears that ran down her cheeks. “What’s wrong? Please tell me. I promise I won’t say anything if you do,” he softly coaxed as his hands wiped away her tears.
Vicky sat up in bed and held Justin’s hands. “After the guys beat me
up, they took off my clothes and began to touch me. I saw one of their faces,
and he looked exactly like
“Vicky,” was all Justin could say. He was stunned by what he had heard. Justin couldn’t believe what Vicky was telling him. No wonder she was afraid of the doctor seeing her. She didn’t want anyone to find out.
“Please don’t tell anyone. I’m so scared,” she cried.
“But Vicky, I have to tell the police. Who knows, they might do it again,” Justin tried to convince her.
“No! You can’t tell the police!” Vicky shouted. Justin kept his arms around her as she cried and pleaded with him, but his mind was set.
“I’m calling them right now. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.” He stood up and left the room. Vicky ran after him. As she caught up, the sick feeling in her stomach almost made it seem like someone was stabbing her. She tripped and fell over in excruciating pain. She gripped her stomach hoping that the feeling would go away.
Justin, hearing the thud, turned and saw Vicky lying on the floor. Her ran to her side and knelt down. Her face was beet red and her eyes were bloodshot from crying so hard. He could tell she was in pain since he’d seen the look before when they were on the island. Justin gently picked her up and carried her back to the bed.
“I’m calling a doctor,” he said, rushing out of the room again.

At the hospital hours later, Justin stood in the waiting room for any news about Vicky. The doctor had told him to take her there after he heard the symptoms. Justin rushed her to the emergency room thinking this was really bad. He didn’t know whether to expect good or bad news. He paced for hours until finally a doctor came into the room.
She looked so familiar, but Justin couldn’t remember where he saw her before. “Hello, I’m Dr. Jerkins,” she said.
“Oh, my God!” Justin exclaimed. “It’s you!”
“And it’s you too!” she replied. “How are you?”
“I’m good. I’m good. My girlfriend, Vicky, is here because my
doctor told me to bring her. Something happened while we were in
“Poor Vicky. I know what happened to her,” Dr. Jerkins added as she sat down beside Justin.
“What happened to her, Doc?” he asked.
“Well, first off, you can call me Rachael, and second, Vicky’s been raped,” Rachael answered. She handed Justin some x-rays and added, “Hold those up to the light and you’ll see.”
As Justin looked at the x-rays, he could see the large inflammation of tissues in what appeared to be Vicky’s abdomen. “Oh, God. Why didn’t she tell me about this earlier?” he questioned himself.
“What do you mean?” Rachael replied.
“Last night, after I gave her a bath, we kinda got into the bedroom and did some crazy things,” Justin said trying not to put it in plain terms.
“Yeah, I know, you fucked her. She told me after I said I’d be taking samples of whatever we found to the lab.”
“Oh, okay.” Justin was clearly relieved. He wouldn’t have known what to say if Vicky hadn’t told her. “How’s Vicky right now?” he replied.
“She’s resting. She’ll be okay in the morning. You can take her home then,” Rachael answered. “We had to…”
“Please, don’t tell me. I’d rather not be disgusted right now,” Justin said, knowing that she was about to tell him what they did to Vicky.
“Well, I have to get going. I have more patients to talk to and more people to see. I’ll catch you later,” Rachael replied as she stood up and left the waiting room. “Oh, and Vicky’s in room 435,” she called back.
Justin leapt up and went straight for Vicky’s room to see her for himself. After being worried for a long time, it’d be a nice to change to see how she was doing. He opened the door to see Vicky sleeping peacefully. Justin went straight to her side and took her hand. He kissed it and let it slide back on the bed.
Vicky’s head turned as she opened her eyes and saw Justin. A large smile appeared on her face as he bent down to kiss her forehead. Justin sat at the edge of the bed and just stared at her. His eyes took in her beauty as he thought about their experiences together.
“What are you thinking about?” Vicky asked as she saw the distant look in his eyes. She reached out and placed her hand on his soft cheek.
“I’m thinking about you,” Justin nearly whispered. “I’m thinking about all those times we spent together, as few as they were. I remember when we were bringing you to the hospital and your heart stopped. I thought I was going to lose you.” Vicky stroked his cheek as two tears ran down it. “I was holding your hand all the way to the emergency room,” his voice cracked.
“Oh, Justin,” Vicky was on the brink of tears.
“Then all those months we were apart, I couldn’t stop thinking about you. When I heard your voice again on the phone, I knew I’d never lose you again, but… but…”
Justin buried his face in Vicky’s shoulder as he cried for the first time in a long time. She rocked him back and forth, comforting him. Vicky kissed the top of his head as she held him. Her own eyes were pouring out tears as they cradled each other.
“I don’t want to lose you ever again,” Justin sniffled.
“You won’t. I promise,” Vicky replied as she kissed him once more.
