Life’s
Little Mess
A gray sky settles over the crystal blue waters
You hold back your tears knowing you’re going to die
Your life remains the mess it has always been
You’ve got nowhere to go, and you can’t win
Like the wind over the trees by the lake
You’re lost, unable to find you way
The darkness unable to fade from night into day
But in you inner world, all’s a lie
You’ve left your husband and daughter behind
Except, somehow, they always come to mind
You wonder if everything was really meant to be like this
No matter what you think
You know it probably was
