HEAVY DRUG REFRENCES! Read at your own risk. (And this has NOT happened to me.
This is based on something that happened to my friend, Michelle. She tells me
all these stories, so I take my ideas from her messed up life. I’m too much of

Chapter 4: Just Another Trip
“It’s getting hot in here (so hot), so take off all your clothes! I am
getting so hot, I wanna take my clothes off!” Faith, Spaz, and Morgan were
singing and dancing in front of the camera Darren was holding for them as the
music thumped throughout the small club.
“So take it off like your home alone. You know dance in front your mirror
while you’re on the phone, checkin’ your reflection and tellin’ your best
friend, like ‘girl I think my butt gettin’ big!’” they finished the
second verse and exploded into giggles. All three were in the process of getting
smashed with the help of Ben, Lee, and Karl. Darren didn’t dare to participate
in their little drinking rampage afraid that the next day would only bring a
headache the size of Alaska. He just held the camera as the others proceeded to
make asses of themselves in front of it. Angi sat beside him, laughing as the
others continued to sing their hearts out completely out of tune.
“Okay, I’ve had enough!” Faith said as she collapsed into a chair beside
Darren and put her head on his shoulder. He gave her back the camera and started
to get up, but she only held him down. “Don’t move. You’re really
comfy.”
“Don’t go falling asleep on me,” he replied. “I’m not about to carry
you all the way back to the hotel.”
“Don’t worry, I just need one more drink and I’ll be right back up,”
Faith mumbled as her eyes began to close.
“Ben! Another drink for the lady!” Karl yelled over to his friend. Ben
disappeared in the crowd of dancing people and soon returned with a tall glass
of beer. He handed it to Faith. She downed it in less than ten seconds and was
on her feet again.
The song everyone had been dancing to was slowly changing into something else.
The DJ said something about a local radio station being there that night, but
Faith was unable to understand a word he was saying. Her feet just kept moving
with the rhythm of the music as her head spun in circles.
‘Euphoria,’ she thought. ‘All I need is a shot of heroin and I’ll be up
in the clouds for the rest of the night. Hey, now that’s an idea.’
“Come on, people. We need to get going. I need some sleep,” Faith said as
she began to stumble back towards Darren to retrieve her camera.
“Maybe I should take this,” he replied as he held it away from her and put
his arm around her waist instead to keep her from falling. She leaned into him
heavily as they walked out of the club. Darren led her down the street towards
the hotel and let go the moment they were inside.
Faith staggered down the hall with Spaz and Morgan. They huddled together and
began to speak in inaudible tones, but soon Spaz was laughing hysterically and
nodding. The three began up the stairs to their second floor rooms as Darren,
Angi, Ben, Lee, and Karl waited for the elevator to get to theirs on the forth
floor.
The three girls reached Faith’s room in a matter of minutes, giggling and
laughing at the stupid ways each of them stumbled. Faith pulled out her key and
swiped it. The door clicked open. They entered quietly with Faith leading. She
headed straight for her bag, rummaging through it to find the little black box
that held their most valuable possession. Unzipping the little leather box, she
pulled out what they had been waiting for.
“Oh, shit! You really went all out for this trip,” Spaz said.
Faith giggled, “You said trip! Haha! We’ll be on a great one tonight.”
“Guys, do you really think this is a good idea?” Morgan hesitated. She was
the slightly more sober one of the group. “I mean, we’re gonna have to be up
in the morning so we can leave for the next city. Do you really wanna be high
when we do that?”
“Alright, Mor. If you really don’t want your weed, we’ll just use it
ourselves,” Spaz replied, taking the little bag of cannabis out of the pouch
and holding it up in front of her friend.
“Hey, I spent good money for that little bag. Of course I’m gonna get high
on it,” Morgan angrily replied as she grabbed it out of Spaz’s hand.
“Hey, Spaz!” Faith said. “Pick your poison.” She held up two tiny bags,
both containing the white powders of heroin and cocaine.
“Gimmie the coke,” Spaz replied as she pulled it out of Faith’s hands.
“Oh, wait, I got an idea. I’ll have a little of both.”
“Speed ball!” Faith giggled. “I’ll have one of those too.”
“Could someone hand me the bong?” Morgan asked.
“Yeah, here,” Faith replied as she pulled the elaborate eighteen inch glass
tube out of her bag and gave it to Morgan. “You’re gonna share, right?”
“No. Why would I wanna share the hash with two crack addicts?” she replied.
Spaz and Faith glared at her. “Jeez, guys. Can’t you take a little joke? Of
course I’m sharing with you.”
Faith sighed with relief. She went back to looking through the little black
leather box for her stash of syringes. She pulled out two and handed one over to
Spaz who was already mixing small amounts of the two drugs together with water.
She set them aside and took one of the syringes from Faith. Filling it with as
much of the mixture as she could possibly fit in the little thing, she handed
the first one to her friend, then filled the second one for herself.
“To feminine bondage,” Faith said as she help up her syringe.
“Female bondage,” Spaz replied as she held hers up also.
“Female bondage, baby,” Morgan joined as she held up her smoking bong.
Faith and Spaz simultaneously injected themselves with the syringes. Faith was
the first one to feel the effects. She shuddered from the first blast of energy
and was soon up off the floor and walking around. Barely able to stand still
herself, Spaz also stood up and began walking with Faith.
“Shit,” she slowly said as the drugs invaded her nervous system. “This is
what I call a trip,” she added, the quick high disappearing. “Pass the
bong.”
Morgan gave Spaz the glass tube to take a long, drawn out breath of the smoke.
She shook her head and coughed, “Man, that’s some great shit.”
“Faith, you gotta try this. Guaranteed high,” Morgan yelled over to her
friend.
Faith didn’t respond. She stared out of the window as a sudden pain invaded
her chest. She grabbed onto the curtain and started to cough, trying to make it
open up and let her breathe. She was finding it harder and harder to take
breaths. Her coughing became harder and deeper. She dropped to her knees,
rubbing her chest, praying that the pain would go away.
‘Oh, God! I’m having a fucking heart attack!’ her mind screamed as she
forced herself to stand up and run to the bathroom. She fell to her knees in
front of the sink again and was soon on her back, the pain taking over her
entire body. The last thing she could remember before she passed out was seeing
Spaz and Morgan run in.
* * *
Faith woke up the next morning in someone’s arms. The pain in her chest was
gone, but her head was thumping like never before. She began to sit up, but her
muscles wouldn’t move. She rolled onto her side and used her arm to prop
herself up. Spaz was asleep on the bathroom floor right behind her and Morgan
was the one she had been sleeping on. Faith looked around the bathroom,
breathing hard to make sure that she was okay.
‘Oh, my God, I can’t believe I almost overdosed last night,’ she thought,
looking at the hard expressions of her friends’ faces. She moved closer to
both of them and shook their shoulders.
“Guys, wake up,” she moaned. “Come on, we need to get out of here.”
“Huh?” Morgan replied as she started to wake up.
“Five more minutes,” Spaz mumbled as she rolled onto the floor.
“Guys, come on!” Faith yelled, startling both of them.
“Faith?” Morgan and Spaz asked at the same time as they rubbed their eyes
open and saw her sitting there in between them.
“I’m alive. Okay, we got that cleared up. Lets get off our asses and get out
of here. Darren and the others are probably waiting for us downstairs,” Faith
replied as she hoisted herself up off the floor using the edge of the counter.
Stumbling out of the bathroom, she slowly walked into the bedroom and began to
put away the secret stash of drugs that were still left from the night before.
The weed was half gone, but it seemed that there was more coke missing than
heroin.
“Hey, where the hell is the rest of the coke?” Faith yelled to her friends
as they came walking out of the bathroom.
“We used some of it last night,” Spaz replied, jabbing Morgan in the ribs.
“Yeah,” Morgan unconsciously answered as she started for the door. “I’m
going back to my room. I’ll be downstairs in a few minutes.”
“Okay, see you there,” Spaz said while Faith kept an eye on her. “I’m
leaving too. See ya on the bus.” She walked out of the room leaving Faith to
clean up their mess.
“Bitch,” she was tempted to yell, but kept it under her breath. She was
zipping the little leather box back up when she heard a knock at her door.
Turning around swiftly, Faith saw that Darren was standing there with another
bouquet of pink lilies and a tall glass of coffee.
“Morning, love,” he said as he entered. “What happened in here?”
“Mor and Spaz spent the night and didn’t bother to clean up,” Faith
replied as she started to pick the clothes and things off the floor. She spotted
the bong beneath a heap of her shirts and immediately wrapped in within them and
threw it into her bag. Turning around to face Darren again. “So, what’s the
plan for today?”
“I don’t really know. I think we’re headed for Columbus tonight,” he
answered. Looking a little more deeply at her, he saw a large red stain on her
shirt right beneath her chin. “What’s that?” he asked, pointing to it.
“What’s what?” Faith replied. He pointed to the stain. She looked down at
it and almost freaked out. Thinking quickly, she answered, “Oh, just a ketchup
stain. Nothing to worry about. We ordered burgers last night, and I guess the
ketchup dripped down onto my shirt. I fell asleep with my clothes still on.”
“Oh.” Darren knew that wasn’t the truth. He just nodded, not wanting to
know what happened that night. “Here, these are for you.”
Faith took the flowers and the coffee, taking a big whiff of the lilies and a
gulp of the coffee. “You’re a lifesaver,” she told him. “Now if you’ll
excuse me, I have to change. I’ll meet you downstairs, okay?”
“Okay, bye,” he replied, walking out of the room with more than enough
questions for an interview. Darren kept wondering what happened that night. The
room smelled faintly of smoke, but then again it could have been coming from
outside since the window was open. He shook it off thinking that he’d get a
better explanation later.
