Chapter 7: Sexual Healing

“Faith, you coming to the club with us?” Spaz yelled though the open door that connected their rooms as she headed out.

“Did you say club?” Faith asked. She dropped the shirt she was holding and added, “I’m there!”

“I’m getting Mor,” Spaz replied as she walked out of her room and headed down the hall for Morgan’s door.

Faith stepped out of her room and started for the elevator. “So where are we going?” she asked as she met up with the others at the elevator.

“This club down the street called Area 51. It’s supposed to be one of the top rated clubs in the city,” Spaz replied as they made their way out of the elevator.

“Sounds like something you would find in Roswell, New Mexico,” Faith joked as she started to walk towards the doors. She wasn’t paying attention to where she was going and accidentally bumped into someone standing in the lobby.

“Oh, shit! I’m so sorry!” Faith said as she turned around to face the guy. “Darren! What a surprise!”

He dusted himself off and replied, “Where do you think you’re going?”

“Out with Spaz and Mor. Don’t worry, we’ll be back around two,” she answered, beginning to walk off again.

“If this involves that club down the street, then don’t even think about it,” Darren called to her.

Faith spun around, angry that he was treating her like a child. “It’s not like I’m going to drink or anything. I’ve learned my lesson,” she retorted.

“I don’t think you have. You can’t just go sober in two days. It’s a long and drawn out process.”

“And how would you know?”

“Because I’ve gone through it!” Darren yelled. He stood there, staring at her astonished gaze, and soon turned away. He couldn’t stand letting her seen him so vulnerable.

“Darren?” Faith asked as she put her hand on his shoulder. He shook it off and started walking. “Darren, wait!” She ran after him.

“Leave me alone,” he grunted, quickening his pace.

“No, I won’t. Not after what you just told me,” she replied, catching up to him. “Spaz, Mor, go ahead without me,” she hollered to her friends. They shrugged and left the hotel in a matter of seconds.

The hotel lobby was completely empty except for Darren and Faith. He looked back at her wondering why she had just refused to go to a social outing with her friends. They stared at each other for a long time before someone finally broke the silence.

“So, now you know my secret,” Darren whispered.

“So, you know mine,” Faith replied. “We’re even, except you still haven’t told me all the dirty details. And since you already know mine, it’s only fair that you tell me yours. Come on, I’ll take you to this place down the street called Jo Jo’s. We can talk there.”

“It all started when the Affirmation tour ended, and I was in San Francisco recording ‘Spin.’ I was alone with no friends, no family, just Leo, and she had a boyfriend out here, so we barely saw each other. I was getting lonely and depressing thinking that I’d never be able to pull off a hit album without Daniel. I picked up a bottle of Vodka and never put it down. I was constantly drinking to take my mind off my problems. I couldn’t write any new music. I couldn’t even leave the house. I stopped eating all together. I was a mess,” Darren explained as he sat forward in his seat in front of Faith. “Like you, I nearly reached the point of no return. I was so close to drinking myself to death when Leo found me on the floor of my apartment. She rushed me to the hospital, and I ended up getting my stomach pumped because there was so much alcohol in my system.”

“Oh, my God! That’s awful! Is that what made you see the proverbial light?” Faith asked.

“Actually, it was Leo telling me that if I didn’t get myself together, I’d lose everything that I’ve worked so hard to achieve,” he answered. “Then she told me I needed help and that I should be in AA.”

Faith began to laugh as she took a sip of her coffee. “How long have you been sober?”

“Nearly nine months. That’s a pretty long time considering all the pressure of recording the album and starting the tour. After that night, I never wanted to get near the stuff again. Now seeing you go through the same thing and realizing that this was me only nine months ago, my heart cries out for you. I want to help you, if you let me.”

“I really do need the help, don’t I?” Faith replied. She put her hands on the table and spread out her fingers so that they stretched out as far as they could go. Her shiny purple nails glittered in the florescent lights, as did each of her eight silver rings.

Darren reached over and put his hands over hers. “I’m here for you,” he said. “Don’t hesitate to ask for help.”

“Thanks, Daz,” Faith choked as she turned her head to keep him from seeing her cry. Darren raised his hand and placed it on her chin, turning her face so he could look into her eyes. With his thumb, he wiped away her excess tears. Leaning over the table, he placed a soft kiss on her lips.

Faith deepened the kiss as she let his tongue caress the inside of her mouth. ‘Oh, God,’ she thought. ‘I want! I want!’ Darren pulled away, a smile creasing his lips “Don’t stop,” Faith begged as she moved around to his side of the table and pulled him in for another kiss. She longed to be with him, her body aching to feel his touch. Her hands grabbed clumps of his soft blond hair, holding him as close to her body as physically possible.

It was Darren’s turn to feel the longing. His desire to be with a woman exploded as his hands slowly crept up Faith’s halter top and to the bare, warm skin of her back. He let go only to catch his breath, then penetrated her lips once more with his deep, passionate kisses.

Faith pulled away, the smile on her face brightening the room like Darren had never seen before. “Let’s go back to the hotel,” she whispered into his ear. Pulling out a ten dollar bill from her pocket, she threw it on the table and grabbed Darren’s hand to lead him out of the restaurant. They ran down the empty street just as a crack of lightening lit the sky and rain started to fall in sheets, blinding them temporarily. Darren pulled Faith into a dark alley and pressed her against the wall so he could kiss her.

Faith pulled away from him again, giggling as she took his hand and began to gallop down the street. They stopped at the hotel lobby doors. Darren bumped into Faith and grabbed her for another kiss in the rain. She pulled him inside as they continued to kiss even as they climbed into the elevator. As the doors opened to the eighth floor, Darren picked her up and carried her into his room.

“Darren,” Faith whispered in the darkness as he laid her on the bed. “Do you want me?”

“Yes,” he replied, leaning over her and placing a kiss on her soft, wet lips.
