Chapter 3
We got to the club and drove
around it.
"DAMN! I forgot, it
closes early on school nights," I said. The guys laughed at my expression.
"Well, let's go to
the beach and chill," Darren said, turning the car around. We drove to the
beach and sat on the sand. It was really chilly since it was the beginning of
November. We plopped down on the sand. Darren noticed my teeth chattering.
"Here, you can
have my sweatshirt," Darren said, taking it off.
"Are you
sure?" I asked, and he insisted. I put it on and snuggled in it. I looked
at Darren in his shirt and I could see his 6 pack.
"Thank you
God!" I said to myself. We all sat around and talked. Daniel cracked me up.
It was getting colder and late, so we decided to go home. The hotel was right by
the beach, so we drove there to drop Daniel off.
"See ya Jonsey,"
Darren said.
"Peace out, bye
Dee," he said.
"See ya," I
called out as he walked in. My house was about 15 minutes from the hotel, so I
turned on the radio. The music filled the car. Then a familiar tune came on.
I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy
"Omigod, that’s
freaky!" Darren said. I laughed and he turned off the switch. "We
sound so much better in person." He looked over and smiled at me. I
returned it. Then I heard him sing.
"I'll be your
dream, I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy.." he sang, with his
beautiful voice. I was speechless. He sounded so...perfect. He kept singing it
and I almost melted in my seat. We pulled in my driveway.
"Thanks
Darren," I said.
"For driving you
home? My pleasure," he said.
"And for
singing," I added. He quickly blushed.
"Well, I'll see
you tomorrow," I said.
"Ok, bye
Delia," he said.
"Bye," I
called out as I exited the car. I used my key to get in the house and shut the
door. I sank on the floor and hugged my knees. My dad wasn't home yet. I wanted
to melt. I cuddled up in the sweatshirt I had on. It was so soft and warm. Then
I remembered who's it was.
"Shoot," I
whispered, "oh well, I'll give it back tomorrow."
**Back at the Hotel**
Darren slipped his card
key in the door and it opened before he could open it. There stood Daniel.
"Yo D," he
said.
"Hey," Darren
said, with a smile. Daniel looked at his watch.
"Hmmmm, you
dropped me off here 30 minutes ago. Ok, D, fess up, what were you two up
to?" Daniel asked, jokingly.
"Nothing, I just
took her home," Darren said as he stepped into the room he and Daniel were
sharing. The connecting door that led to Lee and Karl’s room was open and Karl
walked in with his PJ's on.
"Oh, ya finally
back, Darren?" he asked, "Whatcha guys do?"
"We went to the
beach and talked. It was nice," Darren said, still smiling.
"Well, we just got
word that we are staying here for a week. Then, off to Sweden," Karl said.
"That's cool. We
can hang out with Delia," Daniel said. As soon as he said 'Delia',
Darren’s face instantly turned red. Daniel noticed and a smirk grew on his
face.
"Yeah," Karl
agreed, "she's cool."
"What do you think
Darren?" Daniel said, using that smirk.
"Huh? Oh, yeah,
she's cool," Darren said, still red, looking down.
"Uh huh,"
Daniel said, "then why are you turning red, D?"
"Daniel!"
Karl said. Daniel ignored it.
"C'mon Darren,
spill it," Daniel said.
"Spill what?"
"You know you like
her," Daniel said.
"As a friend,
yeah," Darren said, trying to ignore the conversation.
"I think maybe as
a little bit more...," Daniel said. Darren was quiet for a little bit.
"Ok, alright, I
like her. But I doubt she'll ever go out with me," Darren said.
"And why's
that?" Karl said, joining in.
"She's 16! She's
10 years younger than I am," Darren said.
"Well, do you have
a problem with it?" Daniel asked.
"Nope,"
Darren said.
"Then why would
she?" Karl said, finishing.
"I.... I dunno.
But I really like her. She has beautiful blue eyes, her black hair is just
breath taking, she loves life and everything around her," Darren said,
smiling and turning red.
"WOAH! Go D!! I
never heard you say this about a girl!" Daniel said.
"Are you gonna ask
her out?" Karl said.
"I dunno if I have
the guts to do it," Darren said.
"D, you gotta do
it. And there's a good reason why," Daniel said.
"And what’s
that?"
"Cause I'm going
to if you don't!" Daniel said, kidding around. Darren threw a pillow at
him.
