Chapter 15

"Thanks, and have a Merry Christmas," the store clerk said to me as she handed me my bag.

 "Thanks, you too," I said, smiling. I was Christmas shopping with Darren and Daniel and sneaked off to buy their gifts. I got Daniel blue pager that I already paid for a years worth bill, a pair of green sunglasses, and the new Alanis Morssette CD he'd been begging for. I got his mom a basket of stuff from Bath and Body Works. I walked out of the store, in thought of what to get Darren when someone bumped into me.

 "Augh, sorry about tha...," I said, when I looked up to see who it was. It was Jason Archer.

 "DELIA!" he grinned. "Perfect timing," I thought.

 "Umm...she's not here right now," I said, trying to ignore him.

 "Yeah whatever," he said, as a girl popped up from behind him, "this is Michelle."

 "Oh great Jason, you got another poor girl worshiping the ground you walk on," I said.

 "Hey! It could be you," he said, shrugging.

 "I'd rather sleep with freezing ice on my head while doing a headstand," I said, sarcastically.

 "You know you want me," he said.

 "Yeah, I want you to fall in a lake and drown," I said, walking away before he could say anything. I couldn't believe I saw him. I walked into the store where I saw Darren and Daniel shopping.

 Daniel held up a pink nightgown and said, "Is it my color?!" in a girly voice.

 "Well, it matches your hair!" Darren said, as we started to laugh.

 Daniel bought something for his mom and we left the store. Darren took my hand and the three of us walked to the exit we came in. We got to the car and Darren drove us home.

 ~~~~
 A couple days flew by and it was the day Daniel's mom was coming. Daniel was literally bouncing off the walls. It was the day before Christmas Eve and I had all my shopping done. My dad, me, Darren and Daniel piled into our jeep and drove to the airport. We got there and walked to the gate. The plane landed and people started to pile out of the plane. Daniel spotted his mom.
 "MOM!!" Daniel screamed. He ran toward her and she hugged him.
 "My little Danny!!" she called out. She picked up her 3 shopping bags that were filled with presents. She looked at Darren.
 "Darren!! You shaved off your lil thing you called a goatee!" she cried out. He laughed and hugged her.
 "Hey Chris!" he said. She looked at me.
 "You must be Dee. I have heard so much about you!!" she said. She hugged me. She looked at my dad and said- "and you must be Joe."
 "Hello Chris," he said, as he put out his hand.
 "None of that hand shaking!" she said as she hugged him. I started to laugh.
 "Now I know where Daniel gets it," I whispered to Darren. He laughed. We walked to get her luggage and we walked out to the car.
 "I talked to the guys back home and Lee is having Christmas with his family, and so are Karl and Ben. But they did send presents!" she told us, holding up the shopping bags. Daniel and his mom talked about Boston and caught up on stuff. They obviously were best friends. They even looked alike. We got to their apartment and she took in her bags. We all sat around and talked. We even found out how good of a pool player she was.
 My dad got excited and said, "Hey Chris, I'll challenge you to a game," he said. She smiled wickedly.
 "Ok, you're on," she said. Daniel, Darren, and I decided to tag along. We got into the car and drove to the local billiard. We walked in and they claimed a pool table. They played best out of 3 and my dad won by a lucky shot. We drove back to their apartment and talked for a long time.
 ~~Christmas Eve~~
 "Who wants some egg nog?!?!" Chris screamed from the kitchen. Daniel made a gagging face and we laughed. "Any one?!" she asked again. Daniel shook his arms to us to tell us not too. "Daniel!!" she said, as she caught him.
 "Um...I....was waving my arms cause there was a fly on me. Sure! I'll have some!" Daniel said, with a fake smile. She handed him a glass and he held it and smiled at her. She folded her arms and waited for him to drink it. Daniel sighed and scrunched up his nose and took a tiny sip. He swallowed and Chris smiled triumphantly. Daniel waited for his mom to turn his back and he stuck his tongue out and gagged.
 "I HEARD THAT DANIEL JONES!!" she called out. He smiled wickedly. She came in with a plate of cookies and we ate them in front of the fire. My dad and I were gonna spend the night there so we could be there in the morning for the presents. The phone rang and Daniel picked it up.
 "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" he screamed in it, "....Darren? Darren who?!" he said, jokingly. "Yeah, he's right here. Its your mama," Daniel said, handing the phone to Darren. Darren smiled and picked up the phone.
 "Hello?.......hi mom!....yeah....we're fine....she's much better......yeah, Chris is here....yes....ok....tell them I love them....ok....love you too...Merry Christmas.....bye mom," he said, hanging up the phone. We all sat around and enjoyed the Christmas sprit.
 ~~Christmas morning~~
 "WAKE UP!!!" Daniel and Darren screamed, running in between rooms, making sure everyone was up.
 "WAAAAAKKKKEE UPP!!!! I WANT MY PRESENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!" Daniel screamed. They blasted Christmas music and ran into the living room where I was sleeping. Darren and Daniel shook me and woke me up.
 "AUGH! GO AWAY!" I said, throwing the blanket over my head.
 "We're gonna open presents if you don't get up!!!" Darren said.
 "Ok, have fun," I said, sleepily.
 "We're gonna open YOUR presents," Daniel said. That got me.
 "Ok, ok, ok....what time is it?" I said, yawning.
 "6," they said.
 "IN THE MORNING?!?!" I screamed.
 "YEP!! Hurry up!!!!!" Daniel said. I got up and walked to the door to the family room where the presents were.
 "Aren't they a pain?? Last year, they woke up at 5 and started to open LEE'S presents!!" Chris said.
 "Hey!! We warned him!!" Darren defended himself. Chris smiled and shook her head.
 "Ok...1....2....3!!!!!!" they screamed as Daniel and Darren burst into the family room and ran under the tree and demolished their gifts. My dad, Chris and I were slowly following.
 "YES!!" Daniel said, as he opened his presents. He got a lot of Tommy shirts from his mom and other stuff, my dad got him a new pool stick with his name on it and a new Discman, Darren got him a huge box of Dopey stuff and he opened what I got him. He thanked everyone and started to program his new pager.
 Darren ripped the paper on his presents and got a lot of Tommy shirts from Chris also and 3 new Nike hats, a new cell phone that was purple and said "Daz" on it from Daniel, a gift certificate for $100 from my dad to any store he wanted, and a picture frame with a picture of him and me and a new watch that had his name embroidered in it from me.
 My dad also got a lot of Tommy shirts from Chris, a new briefcase and pager from me, and Darren and Daniel chipped in together and bought him a new stereo with surround sound since we blew out our old one.
 It was my turn to open my gifts and Chris got me 5 new outfits from the Gap, and my dad got me my own computer that had all the programs I wanted and he also got me 5 new CD's I've been begging for.  Darren gave me almost the exact same watch, by accident, and it had my name in it. Daniel got me a real gold necklace that had a soccer ball on it that said 3D on it for my nickname. I thought that was all I got when Daniel and Darren jumped up.
 "We got you one more thing....," Darren said.
 "....something you've wanted for a long time," my dad said, who must have been in on it too. Daniel and Darren opened the door of the closet and a little puppy was sound asleep in a doggie bed. They carried it out to me.
 "Oh my God!" I gasped. It was a cute little Dalmatian puppy. My smile grew so wide that my cheeks hurt.
 "Merry Christmas," Darren whispered. I held it and it was so cute.
 "I always wanted a dog," I said.
 "I know," he smiled. I put it in its bed and jumped up and hugged Darren. He kissed me lightly. "Whatcha gonna name it?" he asked me. I looked at the puppy and it snored lightly as it slept.
 "Gonzo," I said, "I always wanted to name it that."
 "That's cute," Darren said, smiling. We walked outside on the deck and it was snowing. I hugged Darren for warmth and he held me in his arms.
 "Merry Christmas," he whispered in my ear. His voice gave me chills. I turned and faced him.
 "Merry Christmas," I said, as our lips met.
